My Home: Why Not Move Someplace Else?

How much is living in a certain location worth? The weather, the people, the culture, the activities available, the neighborhoods, the schools, the history between you and the place you call home...how much is it all worth? In my post, "My Home: The Budget Is Set" SingleMa makes an interesting comment:
Depending on where you live, you may not have a choice, but my first thought when I read this post is...Dang, that's a lot of money to spend on your first house!!
Yes, it is a lot of money, and I do have a choice. We all do right? What if I moved to another island? What if I moved to another state? What if I moved to another country all together? In the end it does come down to how much home really means to me. I couldn't imagine moving away permanently. And it's not that I haven't tried because I have lived away from home for 4 years. I've been there and done that. So I do have a choice, but my choice is to stay here. It's my home. My friends, my family, the people, and the food! Priceless.

That's how I feel about LA. I often hear people from flatter parts of the country comment, "I don't see how you can live there" and follow up with generalizations about the people, the air, the traffic and the cost of living. The latter two of which are absolutely true.

But, ultimately, I live here because it's home.

But I can get used to living in Hawaii :)

Hey Hawaii and LA have very similar costs of living.
