Who Still Uses Paper Checks?

I hate going to the supermarket and then finding out someone is about to write a check. It takes about 5 more minutes than a regular transaction! Grrrr. To that person who made me wait 5 more minutes in line, use your ATM/debit card or your credit card. Please. Credit card would be the wisest...especially if you get rewards. You can avoid any fees and get a discount! And while we're talking about checks, I hope you use your online bill payment service that's offered to you by your bank probably for free. You will not only save money because you no longer have to buy checks, but you will not have to use your own stamps! /rant :) On a side note, who still uses cash? I've been quite busy this last week, but hopefully this week I will have some time to catch up with blogging. Hope you all had a good weekend!

I ran out of checks 4 months ago that I've had for the past 3 years. I waited until I moved to the new house to order more. Tells ya how much they meant to me, right (lol)? I just bought 2 boxes of 150 each and they'll probably last me 3 more years.

Don't you hate when people wait until their entire transaction is complete before they even START writing the check? WTF!!

I still use checks, but not very often. I get them free from my bank, so it doesn't cost me anything.

I remember a few years back my bank actually PAID me to use my debit card. I received 10 cents for every transaction. Needless to say, I didn't use a single check (less bill payment checks and places who didn't take plastic) and I often received $5.00/month just from using my card.

Unfortunately, it didn't last too long :(

Oh yeah, that's the worse...they don't start signing, writing the store name, date...nothing. Just waits for the total...and then they don't have their ID out, so they have to dig through their purse (sorry trying not generalize, but they do tend to be women who write checks) looking for their ID...errrr...

I use my free checks too...The only time I ever use checks is for donations/fundraising, buying stuff from people locally and paying my friends back...

My mom still uses checks. For some reason she's paranoid about using the credit/debit card machines. In her defense though, she does make sure her check is completely written out (except for the amount) before she gets to the cash register. And speaking of people who wait to start writing the check, what about the people at the bank who wait until they get up to the teller counter to start filling out their deposit slips?? Grr!

KJ...LOL, I have to admit, I rarely deposit at the teller, usually just use an ATM, but there were a few occassions where I have gone without a deposit slip. I know, I know...but to my defense, my bank has switched to a paperless system, so no more deposit slips!
